The Tanto is one of the oldest and most respected Samurai weapons in Japanese history. It dates back to the Heian period and was utilized as a weapon during battles to penetrate and pierce through the armor of the opponent more efficiently. Tanto has also been utilized for slashing, it has highly effective in close-quarter combat. Women would sometimes carry a tanto concealed in their sash or obi for self-defense.We offer traditionally made Japanese Tanto in all sizes and shapes.
